Eugene Oregon Dance Lessons: Learn Swing and Lindy Hop

About

Eugene Swing is a project of Drew Laiche and Catherina Erfurth. We teach Swing and Lindy Hop lessons in Lane County. We have both been dancing for years and have both studied under some of the greatest Lindy Hop dancers in the word.

We truly are social dancers and can regularly be found dancing at local events such as the weekly ELLA dance (Wednesdays), the weekly UofO Swing Dance Club dance (Thursdays), and the monthly Eagles dance (first Sundays) among other events in and around Eugene.

Catherina Erfurth
Catherina began dancing East Coast Swing in 2001, moved on to West Coast Swing, then she found Lindy Hop and fell in love. She is recognized for her creative, interpretive dance style and is always looking to incorporate new movement into her repertoire. You will often find Catherina busting out by herself to some sweet jazz song on the dance floor. Come, Interpret yourself through the art of dance!

Catherina focuses on natural movement and strong lead/follow connection in her classes. She hopes to inspire her students to create their own style and technique as well as become more connected to the
music and their dance partners.

Catherina specializes in Lindy hop, and solo charleston while playing around with Modern dance in her spare time. She teaches in her local swing scene, and Taught at Come Rain Come Shine in Portland, OR in 2007/2008.  She has competed at regional and International events, either placing or making it to finals in most of them.

Catherina has never had a steady dance partner throughout her time as a dancer, until recently. She is thrilled to to be teaching and practicing regularly with her new dance partner, Drew. He offers a
very dynamic teaching and dancing style to the swing scene.

Drew Laiche
Drew first learned how to swing dance in 2007. He learned in the unlikely city of Seoul, South Korea. This was during his time as an English teacher, there.

Now that Drew is back in Eugene, he is completing a graduate degree in Education. Drew is busy with school, although he still manages to get out to most of the dances that happen locally.

Drew believes that developing a personal style is more important than learning highly technical moves and this shows in his teaching style. Drew is interested in musicality and connection in dance and he is very inspired by the dance style of Skye Humphries & Frida Segerdahl.
